Elizabeth from Oh, Fransson! joins us each month to share a new project featuring one of our current fabric collections. Don’t miss the PDF patterns in Elizabeth’s Etsy shop and her series of fun tutorials on Oh, Fransson! Many of you have participated in her Quilt-Along too; the series is chock-full of information and step-by-step instruction.
Today’s laptop sleeve project is available as a free PDF download.

From Elizabeth: Since Father’s Day is coming up, we thought it would be nice to feature fabric and a project that could be used to make a Father’s Day gift. The fabric I used is from Vicki Payne’s For Your Home collection of home dec weight fabrics. I just fell in love with the retro pattern!

The pattern is for a simple laptop sleeve with a flap closure. It’s very basic in concept, but it does involve sewing through a few layers, so I recommend using a heavyweight/denim needle and, if you have one, a walking foot. I used home-dec weight fabric for the exterior of my laptop sleeve, but you could just as easily use regular mid-weight quilting cotton.

The dimensions of the pattern pieces are based on the size of your laptop so, in theory, you should be able to use this tutorial to make a snug-fitting sleeve for any size laptop.

If you make this project, another handmade Father’s Day gift, or a project using For Your Home, we would love to see it in the Sew,Mama,Sew! photo pool.
